Capital’s workforce is set to increase by 25,316%.
No, you didn’t read that wrong. Capital’s workforce is set to increase by 25,316% with the installation of the first of three beehives. Working in partnership with the Sirhowy Valley bee company, Capital will represent the most Southerly point in the Sirhowy Valley that will form part of a network of honey bee hives. The hives will be sited in our recently created biodiversity garden; a space that incorporates a mature habitat of natural woodland, alongside the insect rich feature wall created by the industrial remains of the Blackvein coal mine.
To support the bees, we have also created three wild flower planters from reclaimed timber, installed two insect hotels and have dug out a pond to widen the opportunity for bio-diversity. Over the next 6 months, two further hives will be introduced alongside some garden furniture to allow staff to watch the bees go about their business (at a bee friendly distance).
