  • The Importance of Supply Chain Resilience

Hear from our Commercial Director, Jonathan Wilson about how we ensure seamless, robust and high-quality supply chains for our customers

Why is Supply Chain Resilience Important?

Supply chain resilience is defined as "a network's ability to anticipate, adapt to, and recover from disruptions." At Capital Coated Steel we like to take a proactive approach to supply chain solutions by understanding our customers' specific needs.

Fundamental questions to ask include:

  • What exactly are you producing?
  • What do you need the product to do?
  • What is most important and what does value mean for you?

Owing to our years of expertise in pre-finished steel, we understand the specifics and differences of steel grades, coating technologies and related guarantees, essential to manufacturing different components, for different applications and across multiple sectors.

Furthermore, with our extensive pre-finished steel supply network fostered over many decades, we are also able to advise on the reliability of different supply channels, ensuring you have all the facts in order to make the most informed choice.

Risk Evaluation & Scenario Planning

More so now than ever, supply chain resilience also means evaluating the associated risks of one supply channel versus another. In the current climate of steel import quotas and supply uncertainty, this involves detailed scenario planning to ensure that no matter what happens, continuity of our supply to your business is protected.

Right First Time, Every Time

Nevertheless, as a specialist pre-finished steel processor and distributor, supply chain resilience is more than just the strength of our inbound supply. It's about ensuring right first time, on time in full, outbound supply to you. This is where the superior breadth and scale of Capital's unrivalled "3,4,5" in-house operational capability and capacity counts.

“3,4,5” Capital Quality, Delivered at Scale

  • 3 dedicated Slitting lines capable of processing from 0.15mm to 2.0mm and in finished widths from as narrow as 6mm;
  • 4 Decoiling lines with heating capability able to blank from 0.25mm to 2.0mm, all to the highest surface quality requirements;
  • 5 Profiling lines consisting of 2x 32/1000 trapezoidal, 1 x 26/1000 box profile, 1x corrugated (sinusoidal) and 1x 19/1000 liner profile

With an operational capacity in excess of 40,000 tonnes p/a, Capital not only provides supply chain resilience, but has the baked-in contingency and capacity to deal with localised disruption, spikes in demand and the tightest project deadlines.

Supply chain resilience, particularly in the pre-finished steel market, is about having expert knowledge you can rely on, a supply partner you can trust and ensuring you have options for whatever the market throws at you.
