  • Product focus: Choosing Colorcoat Prisma® for beauty and longevity

Colorcoat Prisma® is among the very top tier products when it comes to architectural beauty and performance. The product uses a three layer manufacturing technology to create an optimised, robust, chrome free pre-finished steel product that looks superb on cutting edge buildings. While we would also advocate and promote the use of Colorcoat Prisma® for a range of other applications it is arguably in this arena of building envelope that the product really stands out.

Tata Steel`s testing regimes have enabled Colorcoat Prisma® to be offered in a wide range of colours and effects, alongside their trademark Confidex® Guarantee for up to 40 years for industrial and commercial buildings, and colour stability for up to 20 years in standard colours when registered online. The contemporary colour range includes impressive metallic colours and sparkle effects alongside matt metallics which often shine – quite literally – when used on building canopies or facades.

Being beautiful is clearly a huge benefit, but in this day and age, product performance, longevity and lifecycle should arguably be the first items on our list of essential product criteria. It is here, that Colorcoat Prisma® knocks it out of the park. Colorcoat Prisma® delivers exceptional UV performance and corrosion resistance (CR) that outperforms the highest European standardsto EN10169:2022. Pre-finished steel also achieves a Green Guide A+ rating in system environmental assessments for UK roof and wall systems.  According to the British Board of Agrément (certificate 91/2717), “Colorcoat Prisma® coating and metal treatment will protect the steel substrate against corrosion for a period in excess of 40 years in normal industrial, urban and rural environments”. Given the high performance and wide range of finishes, it makes Colorcoat Prisma® perfect for aesthetic buildings that are both built to last and built to feed back into the circular economy once the cladding has fulfilled its purpose
